When you first install and activate MetaMask, it will only support ETH transactions.

However, this doesn’t mean you can use it to store and transact with other coins and tokens.

If you want to use your MetaMask for SHIB (Shiba INU) token transactions, here are a few steps you need to follow.

If you haven’t set up MetaMask yet, check out this tutorial’s first part where I share a step-by-step guide to activating your MetaMask wallet.

It’s actually a very simple add any coin to MetaMask.

Go to CoinMarketCap.

On CoinMarketCap, search for the crypto token/coin you want to add to your MetaMask wallet. In this case, we will search for SHIB tokens.

Once you find the coin/token, you will notice the “contracts” toggle. Below is an example for SHIB.

Under Contracts, you will notice the MetaMask mascot – The Fox.

Click on Add to MetaMask and follow the instructions in the pop-up screen, which would look like this:

Click on “Add Token”.

That’s it! – SHIB will now be available to transact in your MetaMask wallet.

Using the same method above, you can add multiple tokens to MetaMask pretty easily.

Keep in mind, since this is on Ehereum Mainnet, you can only transfer ECR20 tokens to this address.

There will be times when you will see an option to use Binance Smart Chain or Solana Blockchain. However, you won’t be able to add these coins to your MetaMask wallet unless you’ve added their respective networks as well.

For instance, you need to add the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) network in order to use WRX (WazirX Token) in MetaMask. Here’s the link to the only set of instructions you need to add BSC to MetaMask.
