Sezzle has begun to shut down its operations in India.
And a lot of users are unable to make re-payments for the purchases they made using the Sezzle pay later payment method.
In a report by Economic Times, It turns out they told their merchants to remove Sezzle Payment Options from their checkout pages effective April 9th, 2022.
If you try to log in to your Sezzle account right now, you might get an error like this:
“Your country is not yet supported”
You can’t sign up for a new account as well. The same error occurs.
Likewise, you can’t find the Sezzle app on App Store and Google Play Store in India.
Sezzle was actually my preferred Pay Later app. I don’t use pay later since I’ve credit cards that provide much better rewards and are easier to track my finances, but whenever I saw Sezzle, I’d use it.
Part of the reason was the limit. I never knew my max limit, but it just didn’t seem to end!
I bought a set of luggage bags, a backpack, plus a wallet from Mokobara last week, and the transaction went without any hiccups. Even while there were still a few bills pending.
Anyway, Sezzle is out of the picture as a BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) app for Indians. So, let’s talk about some of the best Sezzle alternatives.
Some of the below listed BNPL apps are even better than Sezzle and offer higher limits.
ZestMoney
ZestMoney is probably the best Sezzle Alternative in India. It’s similar to Sezzle in its approval process, and it allows you to pay back in installments of 3 to 4 re-payment cycles.
That’s why I am putting it in the #1 position.
ZestMoney doesn’t charge any transaction fees or processing fees. You pay 0% on the re-payments as long as you’re not late.
You can manually choose between repaying in 3 to 4 cycles, which wasn’t something you could do with Sezzle.
You get quickly approved, and you can start transacting in under 10 minutes.
With ZestMoney, you can buy products online using BNPL options on over, 10000 brands online. Much more than Sezzle.
And Unlike Sezzle, you can use ZestMoney BNPL on merchants like Flipkart, Amazon, Paytm, and MakeMyTrip.
One more thing, ZestMoney will probably give you the highest limit out of all BNPL apps. Similar to MoneyTap.
LazyPay
LazyPay is another great alternative to Sezzle. Mainly because they offer you a physical credit card along with a BNPL option on thousands of merchants.
You can use LazyPay on stores like Zomata, Practo, OYO, Boat, RedBus, and more.
LazyPay card comes free with your account. Whenever you use this card, either online or in stores, you become eligible to win some sort of cashback.
Up to 5% cashback is what you can expect, which is pretty sweet. And its approval rate is very high. You don’t have to live in metro cities to claim a LazyPay credit card, unlike others such as Slice.
You won’t get the similar 4 installments re-payment option, but you get a card you can use both online and offline, lifetime free.
Plus, you can use the app and scan QR codes on shops to pay via LazyPay as well.
Simpl
Simpl is another BNPL app that you can use instead of Sezzle.
When it comes to the credit limit, you will probably get the lowest with Simpl.
With Simpl you have to pay your bill every 15 days.
Given the low credit limit, and shorter re-payment cycle, Simpl is my least favorite BNPL app.
However, it’s supported by thousands of merchants, and it’s very simple to use.
That’s all. I hope you’ve found a decent alternative to Sezzle.
Sezzle has been acquired by ZIP.
But they aren’t the same as Mobikwik ZIP. It’s different and I recommend not using it. ZIP by Mobikwik charges you various transaction charges and fees. It’s simply not worth it.
