Looking for a way to transfer your credit card balance to another credit card?
It’s pretty easy, actually, thanks to the apps we are going to discuss in this article.
Before you think of doing it, here are three things you should understand about paying a credit card bill using another credit card.
- It’s not free – ever. If an app says it’s free, try not using it. Credit card companies charge hefty fees for wallet apps + transactions, and other costs. This means these apps have to charge the end-user (YOU) to compensate for the extra charges.
- It’s perfectly ethical – you’re not doing anything wrong. However, these are the banks and financial regulations we are talking about. You never know when rules change. When they do, you will know as these apps would stop supporting this kind of transfer. Till then, you don’t have anything to worry about.
- VISA works. MasterCard doesn’t. American Express often does, but it depends on your bank.
Below are four apps that allow you to transfer money from one credit card to another.
UniCards
UniCards recently launched their new UniCash feature.
Every UniCard holder can now transfer a part of their credit limit to their bank accounts via UPI.
This makes UniCards probably the best credit card app to pay your credit card bill. You can simply transfer the credit limit to your bank account and they pay any bill. You could also use apps like CRED and earn cashback/other rewards on top of it.
UniCards have a very high approval rate, close to 99%. It’s free for life and there are no annual fees.
Paytm
Paytm is probably the easiest and best way to pay credit card bills using your credit card balance.
Paytm wallet allows you to load cash using a credit card. And using your Paytm wallet cash, you can pay any credit card bill.
Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Load your Paytm wallet using your credit card. VISA and Armex work most of the time, but MasterCards don’t.
Step 2: Click on Pay Credit Card Bill option.
Step 3: Pay the credit card bill using the wallet money.
It’s that simple. It does cost you around 3% in charges, but that’s a cost you have to pay regardless of which app you’re using. Maybe more, maybe less, but there will be charges for sure.
To offset the extra charges, you could send the money from Paytm to your bank account or use Paytm UPI and pay your credit card bill via CRED. You might get lucky and win more cashback.
Note that you won’t be able to load Paytm wallet using an HDFC MasterCard most of the time. But do give it a try though.
Mobikwik
Mobikwik is another mobile wallet that allows you to pay credit card bills.
Similar to Paytm, you need to first top-up your Mobikwik wallet. You can use your credit card to top-up your Mobikwik wallet, but you will be charged 2-3% depending on the day and card you’re using.
Then, using your wallet balance, you can pay the credit card bill. If you have a MasterCard, you might face constant issues while paying your bill directly through Mobikwik.
The best way to tackle this issue is first transferring your Mobikwik wallet balance to your bank account; then using your bank app or CRED to pay the bill.
Bajaj Finserve Wallet
Bajaj Finserv wallet is powered by Mobikwik. Consider this option as a backup in case Paytm, and Mobikwik both don’t work for you.
If in some cases, you are not able to transfer your Mobikwik wallet balance to the bank account as well as not able to pay the credit card bill, you can transfer the balance from your Mobikwik wallet to Bajaj Finserv wallet for free.
However, you need to separate accounts to do that. You can’t transfer wallet-to-wallet to the same mobile number.
Bajaj Finserv wallet, despite being powered by Mobikwik, does seem to allow Mastercard bill payment pretty smoothly. In fact, better than Paytm too.
Slice
I wanted to add the Slice app to this list too. It’s the only app on this list that gives you a credit card and allows you to transfer that balance without any hassle to other apps like Paytm.
You can even transfer the credit from Slice to your bank account via IMPS and UPI. So, you can transfer the Slice credit to Paytm and pay your credit card bill or, you can transfer it to your bank account. Then use an app like Cred to pay the bill and earn extra rewards.
That’s all. You’ve got four apps that allow you to pay your credit card bills using a credit card itself. Plus, you just learned how to get free-floating cash.
Any questions? Maybe you have a suggestion?
Either way, let me know in the comments.
Nishit
You could transfer money from credit card to your paytm wallet through a different app like zomato or uber and then pay your credit card bill. No charges.
